When Randy Brown of AquaPrix first approached Peggy Williams, Human Resources and Facilities Manager, at a HP computer manufacturing site in Fremont, California, she was ready for something new. For a long time Peggy had wanted to get rid of water bottles. She was tired of the hassle, the eyesore of stored bottles, and she was concerned about possible injuries caused by lifting 5-gallon, 42 lb. water bottles. Recently, Peggy herself had dropped a bottle and water went everywhere. Luckily, she wasn’t injured, but she almost slipped and fell while trying to mop up the mess.

Innowave uvf3HP has a commitment to employee wellness and is continually looking for ways to improve the work environment. Dry cleaning delivery, a fitness center, on-site oil changes for employees’ automobiles, and on-site ATMs are among the many benefits the Fremont facility offers.

HP initially installed 14 innowave 270™ units and innowave uvf® systems at the Fremont site. At that same time, Randy Brown from AquaPrix was introducing the innowave® systems to Compaq’s site in Cupertino. While the Cupertino managers were evaluating this new technology, HP corporate offices in Houston sent the corporate EH&S team to Cupertino and Fremont for an annual facility safety inspection. The new innowave® drinking water systems in Fremont passed with flying colors, but the EH&S team determined that the bottled water systems in Cupertino were not up to the high HP standards.

“When the [bottled water] coolers were checked for bacteria, ALL of them failed. Most of them horribly, much worse than we expected,” Said Joanne Marsh, Facilities Manager of the Cupertino site.

Soon after that health and safety inspection, Compaq replaced all of their bottled water in Cupertino with another 50 innowave® systems.

“The innowave® systems have been a great success,” Peggy said. “Employees here are well read and educated. Many went to various web sites including the AquaPrix web site to learn about the technology and the purity of the water. Best of all, the water tastes great. It is cool, fresh and clean tasting. And we don’t have to worry about repercussions from injuries or contaminated bottles.”

In Cupertino, as Randy followed up with Joanne Marsh, Facilities Manager, she said, “The installation went very well. The AquaPrix service team was great. Everything went very well. Of all the contractors I’ve worked with, yours was the smoothest project. We are very pleased.”
