Affymetrix develops state-of-the-art technology for acquiring, analyzing and managing complex genetic information for use in biomedical research. They design and commercialize systems that help scientists alleviate human suffering and improve the quality of life.

Since the company was founded in 1993, they have always placed a high value on employee health. When AquaPrix first approached Gregg Bussey, Facilities Director at Affymetrix, they were providing bottled water for their several hundred employees in six Bay Area corporate buildings. Gregg disliked the hassles of bottle delivery and storage, but he thought the quality of bottled water for their employees was important.

AquaPrix introduced them to the innowave 270™ , a next generation technology combining ion exchange, distillation and filtration, and explained the health benefits of this new technology. Gregg was impressed to learn that many other local biotech companies in the area had switched to the innowave 270™ systems including Alza Pharmaceuticals, Lawrence Livermore Labs, élan Pharmaceuticals, and Stanford Hospital. This was enough for him to give it a try. He placed a trial innowave 270™ in the executive area of their Santa Clara offices with some informative literature about the process.

The employees loved the taste of the pristine water produced by the 3-stage IDF™ process, and many of the scientists were able to verify the health benefits of drinking plenty of fresh, clean water everyday. AquaPrix proposed a combination of  innowave 1800™ and innowave 270™ systems for their several Bay Area facilities and outlined an installation plan. Gregg was anxious to move ahead. The implementation of the new systems would reduce the ongoing cost of the bottled water and eliminate all of the bottled water hassles. Best of all, the high quality of the fresh distilled water is a health benefit for the employees.
