Nortel Networks is a leader in Internet technologies and is creating Internet infrastructures for a faster and more reliable, high-performance Internet experiences. Nortel also has a commitment to hiring and retaining the best employees and providing a work culture that supports intense dedication to getting the job done. When AquaPrix first met Nortel, it was Lynne Leahy, President/CEO that made the initial call. “I felt that Nortel would be a very important account for us.”

That meeting with Robert Schwerin, Manager, Facilities, Western Region opened the door for Nortel Network’s first installations of new, safe systems providing clean, healthy drinking water for employees at Nortel. The first innowave® systems went into the San Ramon offices. They were a big hit with the employees and the facilities staff. Shortly after the San Ramon success, Jim O’Neil and Randy Brown, AquaPrix Sales Representatives, made a call at the Nortel Santa Clara facilities, which included 13 buildings and about 3,000 employees. Like many major Silicon Valley companies, Nortel outsources some of their facilities management operation to facilities specialists from C.B Richard Ellis. Although they had a glowing referral from the San Ramon facility, they initiated their own decision-making process.

“Nortel employees are very health conscious,” said Art Saldivar, “and they are big water drinkers. The quality of the water will be a big factor.” They had previously tried some under-the-sink RO systems, and the employees rejected them. “But we were also concerned about the danger of employees lifting bottles, the uncertainty about quality and the hassle of storage and delivery.” They were impressed with the innowave UVF® and all of its certifications including NSF and the U. of Arizona EPA tests. They installed a couple of systems that were immediately huge successes. Employees loved the taste and were impressed with the quality and safety. “We quickly moved to replace all of our drinking water systems and have installed over 60 units in the 13 buildings in Santa Clara.”
